The Icecutter's Daughter by Tracie Peterson

The Icecutter's Daughter (Land of Shining Water, #1)This book is the first book I've read by Tracie Peterson. I have to say I was sad when the book ended. I wanted it to keep going. This book has a little bit of everything: mystery, suspense, romance. Meet Rurik Jorgenson who has been invited by his Uncle Carl to help with the furniture business. He is ready for some fresh air and adventure. Only one thing is holding him back...  his fiance. He dissolves the engagement so he can help his elderly uncle.

Weeks pass. Rurik goes to help a neighboring family. He does not know alot about ice cutting. At the end of the day he is surprised when one of the workers is the ice cutter's daughter, Merrill Krause. There is an instant connection. They begin to talk and find they have alot in common.

Things dissipate as Rurik's former fiance turns up for a visit.

Only one way to find out what happens...

Be sure to look for this book in stores and online on March 1st.

Mila 2.0 by Debra Driza

MILA 2.0 (MILA 2.0, #1)Mila 2.0 is the first book in an electrifying sci-fi thriller series about a teenage girl who discovers that she is an experiment in artificial intelligence.

Mila was never meant to learn the truth about her identity. She was a girl living with her mother in a small Minnesota town. She was supposed to forget her past —that she was built in a secret computer science lab and programmed to do things real people would never do.

Now she has no choice but to run—from the dangerous operatives who want her terminated because she knows too much and from a mysterious group that wants to capture her alive and unlock her advanced technology. However, what Mila’s becoming is beyond anyone’s imagination, including her own, and it just might save her life.

Mila 2.0 is Debra Driza’s bold debut and the first book in a Bourne Identity–style trilogy that combines heart-pounding action with a riveting exploration of what it really means to be human. Fans of I Am Number Four will love Mila for who she is and what she longs to be—and a cliffhanger ending will leave them breathlessly awaiting the sequel. (summary from goodreads)

I must say I was really surprised. This book isn't at all what I expected but something more. I don't want to reveal much because if I start typing I will give the whole book away. I will say this. This book kept my attention. The plot was wonderful. The girl Mila--somebody you do not want to underestimate. Be prepared for the ride of a lifetime as you step into this girl's shoes.
